Single Serve Coffee Makers

I’ve solely focused on single serve coffee makers for this  page. If you are interested in learning about other types of coffee makers, visit the coffee articles page to read up on other styles.

Before you invest in a single serve coffee maker, you need to decide if this design is your best option. Let’s weigh out the pros and cons first, and then I’ll introduce a few of my favorite brands!

The Pros

  • Size – this style of coffee maker utilizes very little space. This is perfect for anyone that has a small kitchen and little room to store coffee beans, filter paper, and a larger style of maker.
  • Time – brewing a delicious cup of hot coffee takes about a minute! Perfect for anyone on a tight schedule that wants a quick cup of great coffee in the morning.
  • Consistency – this is a double edged sword as you’ll see in the cons, but you will always get a consistently perfect cup of coffee using this design.
  • Cleanliness – no more messy coffee grounds and soaked filter paper to deal with, these makers utilize coffee pods, which make brewing a cup quick and clean!

The Cons

  • One Cup Only – this product is designed to brew one cup at a time. If you live in a household with multiple coffee drinkers who all want a cup at the same time, this may not be your best bet.
  • Consistency – while this is definitely favorable for some, others may be dissatisfied with the lack of control over their brew. Coffee pods are designed to give you a consistent cup every time!
  • Brand limitation – you are limited to the coffee pod style of your brand. Certain brands, like Keruig, use k-cups, while other brands use a different style.

While there are a few cons with the single cup coffee maker, there are still many reasons to own one. Over the years, these makers have gotten much more affordable. Companies have also increased the variety of coffee pods too. You will have no trouble finding a new favorite coffee if you do decide to purchase a single cup coffee maker.

My Favorite Brands

I am going to write individual reviews for each of the following designs, but below are my favorite in order of preference.

Single Serve Coffee MakersKeurig Elite Brewing System

This coffee maker is my personal favorite. The k-cup design is convenient and mess free. There is a phenomenal variety among k-cup coffees too! You have the choice of two different cup sizes with this model, and like all Keurig brewers, it is extremely quiet. It is a relatively inexpensive model as well.

Single Serve Coffee Makers

Mr. Coffee Single Serve

It is no surprise I love this brewing machine. It is powered by Keurig and utilizes the same k-cup design. This model is less expensive than the Keurig Elite, but still brews equally awesome cups of coffee. The main difference is that you have to add water each time you brew. The Keurig Elite has a water reservoir that you fill and utilize until empty. The price difference between the two is fairly minimal.

I will be writing detailed reviews of the best single serve coffee makers on the market soon. There are other great models out there, but the two above are my personal favorites and extremely affordable.
